Peeps Diorama ContestPeeps Diorama Contest for All Ages

Create a book or literary themed diorama with Peeps marshmallows for a chance to win fame, glory, and Peep-tastic prizes! Entries will be accepted March 27-31 and will stay on display through the month of April. Teens currently in grades 6 - 12, this is your chance to win gift cards from Amazon.com! Poems must be 50 Lines or less. Entries MUST be turned in by April 15 at 6:00 p.m. The winners will be announced during an evening ceremony at the Library.

South Carolina State LibraryLiterary Cake Decorating Contest to Celebrate National Library Week
(April 12-18, 2015)

Participants may submit cakes decorated to represent a character from a favorite book, a favorite children's book cover, or anything else book-related.

Anyone interested in participating must REGISTER ONLINE.

Cakes should be dropped off at the State Library (1500 Senate Street) between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015.  

Library visitors may vote for their favorite cake any time between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on April 17, 2015.  When voting is closed, the votes will be counted and winners will be announced.  After winners are announced, the cakes will be cut and served.

South Carolina State LibraryWinners will receive special prizes. Photos of the winning cakes will be posted on the State Library's website and social media.

The Aiken-Bamberg-Barnwell-Edgefield Regional Library System is pleased to announce it now offers the Mango Languages online language-learning system to its patrons and to public libraries across our four-county service area.

Mango is free for all library patrons and can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application by focusing on the four key elements of language learning: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and culture.

Mango offers access to 60 foreign language courses and 17 English courses taught completely in the user's native language. In addition totraditional language courses, Mango also Mangooffers the opportunity to learn through foreign film with Mango Premiere™ and access to a variety of specialty mini courses, like Pirate, Medical Spanish and romance courses. Mango can be accessed at any ABBE library, remotely, or even on-the-go with apps for iPhone®, Android™, Kindle® and Nook®.
